DAILY CUSTODY TIP: Shoot Them Together (Photograph Your Kids With Each Other)

If you’re involved in a contested child custody case, the opportunity may arise for you to present photographs of the children as evidence to the judge who will be deciding the case. Frequently, a parent will present photos that show the child in the presence of that parent and/or other family members. Often, such pictures are posed at the parent’s house or on a family vacation.

Another strategic maneuver is to photograph the children playing with each other. If there are two or more children, get pictures of them eating together, sleeping together, playing together, swimming together or otherwise interacting with each other. If there is only one child in question, get pictures of him or her eating and playing with other children their age. By depicting scenes in which the children are happily interacting with each other, a parent may be able to argue more forcefully that the children are socially well-adjusted, at ease, and naturally interactive in that parent’s home environment.

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. But a picture of a young brother and sister happily swinging on a swing set in a parent’s backyard could be worth 1,500 words.
